Welcome to the sixth and last module for the Global Filipino Teachers 2020 Digital Learning Track. Thank you so much for staying with us for the past few weeks and we hope that this program has helped you on your journey to becoming the best teachers for your students.
Throughout the program, we were able to accomplish a lot of things! These will all be helpful when we reflect on our progress, identify goals, and map out the steps we need to take in order to achieve those goals. Before we begin, it’s important that you have the following:
In Module 2, Teacher Strengths, we were able to create a Johari Window for ourselves. We were also able to answer the Teacher Strengths quiz.
In Module 3, Designing for Student Context, we were able to create a feedback form and collect feedback from our learners.
We also have the different entries in our Study Notebook.
Use everything that you’ve accomplished throughout the program to fill out the GGG (Good, Great, Growth) Worksheet below. You can also look back on your performance over the quarter to fill out this worksheet. Remember that the goal for this activity is to give yourself kind, honest, and useful feedback
Here are downloadable copies of Worksheet 1
How can I use all of this information for my professional development? Our GGG sheet gives us clues as to where we might develop more. When we look back on the things we do well and the things we can improve on, we don’t just stop there - we use these to figure out our goals and to figure out what we can do to achieve them.
In this activity, we invite you to use your GGG worksheet to formulate a GOAL for yourself. Aside from your worksheet, you can also draw inspiration from the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers, or the PPST. The PPST measures teacher performance, identifies needs, and provides support for professional development. Organizations that are accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission use the PPST to formulate learning goals when designing programs for continuing professional development.
Identify a goal that you want to achieve. One way that will help you formulate your goal is by making them SMART:
SPECIFIC - Your goal should be simple and specific so you can focus your effort and feel motivated to achieve it.
MEASURABLE - Having measurable goals helps you to track your progress and stay motivated. One way you can make sure that your goals are measurable is to make sure that you know the answer to this question: “How do I know that I’ve accomplished my goal?”
ATTAINABLE - In order to achieve your goals, they need to be realistic and attainable. It should stretch your abilities and allow you to grow but still remain possible.
RELEVANT - Is this the right time to pursue this goal? Knowing the why behind your goals is one way that you can stay motivated to achieve them.
TIME-BOUND - Having a deadline helps to prevent everyday tasks from taking priority over your longer-term goals. Keeping your deadline in mind can also help you look for tasks and pursue activities that will bring you closer to your goals.
Write your goal down in the box at the end of the worksheet.
Write down each step that you need to take in order to accomplish your goal.
By this time, it’s possible that you’ve gotten to know your LAC group very well. One of the ways that we can achieve our goals is by showing them to others and leaning on them for support. At the same time, you can also support your LAC-mates and encourage them as they pursue their own goals!
For this activity, we invite you to go back to your LAC group and spend some time sharing your GGG worksheets with them. You can use the following guide questions to structure your conversations:
Do you think that there’s anything in my Good, Great, and Growth sheet that I might have missed out on? What are specific instances that you saw these?
What other learning opportunities can you recommend to include in my journey map to my Goal?
Do you want to be accountability partners? What can we do to motivate each other and keep each other on track?
If you feel the need to update or revise your GGG worksheets, you can reprint the ones we have here!
This survey is designed to help us gain a better understanding of your learning throughout the program. Don’t forget to answer this after accomplishing the previous tasks to get your certificate for this Module!
